Paint in hand.

Started with a brush, a phone, and the same hustle every operator starts with. Built the first crew by doing every job himself first — learning exactly what quality means at the ground level.

First $1M. First real problems.

Crossed $1M and immediately hit the ceiling: every decision still ran through Charles. No vacations. No breathing room. The business was a trap. This is where the obsession with systems began.

Year 4–5

The 9/3 model.

Pioneered the 9/3 operational calendar — 9 months of peak execution, 3 months of deliberate system-building. Used the off-season to build the org chart, hiring playbooks, and financial dashboards that made scale possible without chaos.

Hit $4.2M with Pro Painters Muskoka and took a real vacation for the first time. The company ran without him. That year proved the thesis: systems, not hustle, create freedom.
